Timing chain noise is an issue on these. There was a TSB for this.

Lets face it, nobody on oppo will successfully talk anyone out of anything. We’ve all made so many dumb automotive decisions that we’re all black kettles. Do it.

Get an external trans cooler. Something about the internal oil cooler failing and coolant getting into the auto trans.

Negative, Ghost Rider. That issue only impacts 2005-2008 models; 09 and up got the fix. All manual models are free of the issue. Generally, 2011 is the sweet spot for Xterras, Frontiers, and Pathfinders - most of the good new stuff, none of the problems, and none of the crappy new stuff (13+).

I myself would have held out for a 4x4.

For 2005-2008 models which had plastic timing chain guides. They switched to metal for 2009 and up; that issue has been eliminated.

From waht ive read on forums it seems like the issue was resolved on the 2011 model, but ill double check.

Haven’t seen that come up, do you happen to know what the listed fix was?
